Raina Cowan, LCPC, ATR, PMH-C
Raina Cowan is a licensed clinical professional counselor and registered art therapist with a Master’s degree in art therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is also certified in perinatal mental health (PMH-C). Her private practice is located in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. She is equally well-versed in traditional talk therapy and art therapy but her passion is helping people express themselves through art based methods. Raina has worked in community mental health for 18 years, in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings.  She has also taught in the art therapy department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and supervised art therapists in training. Her areas of practice include: mental health, stress and anxiety management, emerging adulthood, trauma, life transitions, reproductive issues, infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, adoption, transracial adoption, adjustment to parenthood, and parenting, especially helping form connections through art. Raina is a culturally sensitive adoptive parent in a transracial adoptive family. She is dedicated to learning, thinking about and being active in social justice arenas, especially systemic racism and oppression and womxn’s rights. (Pronouns: She/her/hers)
